Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 1, 2026

This policy explains what information is handled when you read pven.org, why it is used and what choices you have. The operator is the person or organisation running Pven, referred to below as we.

Visit logs

The servers that deliver pven.org keep ordinary logs. An entry can include your IP address, the time of the request, the page asked for, the browser and device type, and the referring page. We use logs to keep the race and training pages available, to spot errors and abuse, and to see which articles are read. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working site.

Cookies and similar technology

The site may use cookies or similar storage that pages need to load and display properly. Beyond that, nothing on pven.org is set up to profile runners. If the site ever adds analytics, advertising or affiliate tracking, this page will be updated first and consent sought where the law requires it.

Withdrawing consent

Where you have agreed to something optional, you may take that agreement back at any time. The Cookie Policy page linked in the footer explains the steps, and withdrawing does not affect anything done before.

Browser controls and opt-out signals

Your browser lets you clear cookies, open private windows or add tracking blockers. If it sends a do-not-track or global privacy signal, we will honour it as an opt-out wherever the technology behind pven.org allows. Blocking some storage may change how parts of a page behave.

Emails and forms

If you write to [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever you say, such as a correction to a race report or a question about hill training. We use it to reply, to fix the article concerned and to keep a record, because you asked us to respond and we have a legitimate interest in accurate content. We do not sell messages, and we will not publish one without asking you.

Newsletters

If Pven offers a newsletter or sign-up form, the details you enter are used to send what you asked for, such as notes on new training or event articles, on the basis of your consent. Each message will say how to stop, and you can also ask by email.

Third-party services

Publishing a site relies on outside providers, mainly hosting and content delivery. They handle technical data about your visit so pages reach you, under their own privacy notices. If the site ever adds embedded maps, organiser videos, analytics or affiliate networks, those providers could also receive data about your visit, and this policy will say so.

Retention

Raw log entries are held only briefly before being deleted or boiled down to anonymous counts. An email stays in the inbox while it is useful for replying, fixing a page or meeting a legal duty, then it is removed.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask what personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to certain uses, or ask for a copy. To make a request, email [email protected] and describe what you want. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will respond within the time the law sets.

Complaints to a regulator

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to your local data protection authority if you are in the EU, EEA or UK, or to the OAIC if you are in Australia. We would welcome the chance to put things right first, but you need not contact us before going to a regulator.

Young readers

Pven is about race planning and trail training for adults and older teenagers, and pven.org is not meant for anyone under 13. We do not set out to gather details from young children. If a child has sent a message through pven.org, a parent or guardian can email us, name the message, and we will delete it and any reply.

Security

Pages are served over encrypted connections, and only the operator opens the inbox. Nothing sent or stored online is completely safe, so we cannot promise absolute protection.

International transfers

Hosting and delivery providers may process data in other countries, where laws can differ from yours. We choose providers with reasonable safeguards and limit what is shared to what the service needs.

Changes to this policy

This policy will be updated whenever the way pven.org handles data changes. The effective date above shows when this version began, and significant changes will appear here before they take effect.

Withdrawing consent and complaints

You may take back any consent you gave us at any point; what happened before stays lawful. See the cookie policy page for the cookies in use and how to manage them. If you live in the EU, EEA or UK you can complain to your local data protection authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office); in Australia, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
